In your first hours, equip the suit, feed the Chicken, make Scrap from two Metal, restore the station generator, raise the train pantograph, and repair the four damaged train fixtures. Keep every early trip short enough to return with at least one quarter of your oxygen remaining. This route unlocks storage, crafting, food, water, and the objectives that lead into the wider Early Access area.

Equip the suit and start the tutorial

Take the spacesuit and helmet from the benches near Babe and Sui before leaving the safe opening area. Pick up the chicken feed behind the nearby pieces, equip it, and feed the Chicken when prompted. These actions advance the introduction and prevent you from searching the station before the basic interaction tutorial is complete.

Move into the docked train and help Babe by picking up Sui and approaching her position in the right corner. Read the objective text whenever the joke dialogue makes the next action unclear. Breathedge 2 often hides a precise interaction inside a broad comedic instruction, so the tracker is the fastest source of truth.

Craft Scrap and open the phone booth

Search the two containers behind the train-station platform for Metal, then craft Scrap using Metal x2. Scrap is the first essential tool: it breaks ice, opens simple locks, and harvests several common objects. Do not use all nearby Metal on optional breaking before completing the power objective.

Find the phone booth and strike or interact with its lock using Scrap. If the tool does not appear, verify that it is equipped in an active quick slot rather than sitting in the inventory. A tool can also be consumed through durability, so keep enough Metal to replace it during the opening repair chain.

Restore power to the station

The generator sits on top of the platform, and its battery is frozen directly behind it. Break the surrounding ice with Scrap, pick up the battery, and insert it into the generator. Then climb to the train roof below the glass awning and raise the pantograph to connect the train to power.

Restoring power activates useful station interactions and moves the tutorial into train repairs. It can also thaw or reveal interactions that appeared unavailable earlier, including the nearby Attendant side quest. When an optional object seems frozen or inactive, finish this power sequence before assuming the game is bugged.

Repair the train in a useful order

Inspect Kettle Bobby, the Nutri-Pack-O-Mat, the lamp, and the broken window to reveal their material requirements. Kettle Bobby needs Aluminum x3, Wires x2, Electronics x2, and Plastic x1; the food machine needs Aluminum x3, Wires x2, Electronics x3, and Plastic x1. The lamp needs Plastic x1, Metal x2, and Glass x2, while the window accepts Cardboard or Foam.

Repair the systems that stabilize food, water, light, and shelter before wandering far from the platform. Gather one recipe at a time, deposit overflow in storage, and avoid carrying every rare component on a risky expedition. The crafting recipe list is faster to scan if you only need exact costs.

Manage oxygen like a travel budget

Treat half of the oxygen bar as the point to evaluate your return, not as permission to continue outward. Turning at roughly one half leaves room for a missed landmark, a detour around debris, or an interaction that takes longer than expected. If the route is unfamiliar, leave even earlier and place the knowledge gained above the amount of loot collected.

Use the train, station structures, and distinct colored machinery as navigation anchors. Look backward after crossing open space so you learn how the return route appears from the opposite direction. Our map and locations guide describes the opening region by visible landmarks rather than coordinates that the game does not provide.

Build the Cutter and Thumper next

The Cutter costs Aluminum x4, Plastic x2, and Metal x4, and it unlocks resources found in pipes, panels, and salvage. The Thumper costs Metal x4 and Plastic x2 and is useful for gathering Aluminum from suitable asteroid deposits. These tools expand what counts as a productive trip, so prioritize them over decorative or low-impact crafts.

Different resources demand different extraction methods. Plastic commonly comes from pipes, Wires from electrical panels, Electronics from devices, and Aluminum from cratered rock deposits. If you are missing a component, search for its object type and bring the correct tool instead of sweeping random debris.

Keep an efficient early inventory

Carry one working Scrap, the Cutter once available, a small food and water reserve, and only the quest items needed for your current goal. Store duplicate common materials at the train and keep rare processed components out of your general exploration load. Empty slots are valuable because an unexpected quest item or blueprint component can otherwise force a premature return.

Do not automatically discard Cardboard, Foam, Duct Tape, Glass, or Electronics because they look less fundamental than Metal. Several repairs require exactly one material that is inconvenient to relocate. Consult the resource index before throwing away a stack whose purpose is not yet obvious.

Take side quests near the station

The broken antenna and Attendant are close to the starting platform and teach the layout without demanding an extreme oxygen range. The antenna needs two debris pieces, one floating beyond the antenna and another behind the station near an asteroid or ice chunk. The Attendant needs its body, head, and arm, all found around the station structures.

Completing the Attendant quest grants Physical Protection +2 and the Attendant achievement. That permanent bonus makes the short search worthwhile before tackling more dangerous routes. Use the dedicated antenna and Attendant walkthroughs if one small component is hiding in the background clutter.

Avoid the most common beginner mistakes

Do not fly until the oxygen warning becomes urgent, craft comfort items before progression tools, or consume every resource without checking its next recipe. Do not confuse the local broken-antenna side quest with the later story objective involving multiple antennas. Most importantly, do not assume an unreachable or inactive object is broken before restoring power and checking the objective sequence.

Save or return to safety after a valuable discovery, and expect Early Access patches to alter costs or placement. This guide was verified on September 1, 2026, shortly after the Steam Early Access launch. If the interface shows a different recipe or objective, follow the current build and use this page as route logic rather than immutable data.
