Craft the Breathedge 2 Cutter with Aluminum x4, Plastic x2, and Metal x4 after making Scrap and securing an Aluminum route with the Thumper. The Cutter opens electrical panels, pipes, and selected station salvage, making it a progression tool rather than a general-purpose weapon. In the current patch history, it also became the required tool for the PornHubble grate; always follow the live interaction icon if it differs from an older guide.

Check the Cutter recipe before leaving the train

The verified opening recipe is Aluminum x4, Plastic x2, and Metal x4. Aluminum is the limiting material because the same opening sequence spends it on train repairs, interphone work, and later antenna objectives. Do not spend your last Aluminum on optional equipment until the Cutter recipe is fully reserved.

Metal comes from balls, barrels, containers, and salvage that show the Scrap prompt. Plastic commonly comes from pipes around station platforms and structures, but the object prompt still decides whether a pipe can be harvested in your build. The resource index helps match a missing material to an object instead of turning every trip into a broad search.

You need a working Thumper to gather Aluminum from suitable cratered asteroid deposits. That makes the practical opening order Scrap, Thumper, Aluminum, then Cutter. The Aluminum locations guide explains how to recognize those deposits and keep the return route short enough for the oxygen available to you.

Use the Cutter on marked panels and salvage

The Cutter is most useful when an interaction prompt explicitly displays its icon. Electrical panels yield Wires, which are needed for train repairs, interphone wiring, the Twister, Gas Tank, Flashlight, and other progression crafts. Pipes and appropriate station objects can also provide Duct Tape, Cardboard, Foam, and related salvage.

Approach the target closely and wait for its label before using durability. A pipe or panel that looks similar may be decoration, locked behind a quest stage, or require another tool. Randomly striking scenery wastes a tool charge and can make a correct resource route feel empty.

Use a focused target for each expedition. If the next repair needs Wires, fly to recognizable electrical panels and return once you have the full amount. If it needs Duct Tape or Plastic, choose the relevant pipes or structures instead. The Wires guide is the better next stop when the Cutter recipe is complete but your repair is still short of cable.

Prioritize the Cutter over optional equipment

The Cutter expands the number of material sources you can use, so it normally has more value than an optional comfort craft early in Chapter 1. Its Wires unlock train machines, interphone stages, and later equipment, while its salvage sources reduce the chance that a repair is waiting on one overlooked component. Craft it after your immediate power and Thumper needs are covered, not before them.

Store enough Metal and Plastic for one clear goal rather than trying to carry the complete recipe list. A full Cutter package is safer than making a partial trip that leaves you with no room for the Aluminum you find. If the first tool breaks, inspect the current workstation before replacing it; its displayed recipe is more reliable than an older table during Early Access.

The crafting recipes page keeps the Cutter beside Scrap, Thumper, Twister, survival items, and train repairs. Use it to total shared components before committing them to a Flashlight, Backpack, or other item that can wait.

Understand the Hotfix 0.8.8 rule change

Hotfix 0.8.8 changed one named interaction: the grate inside PornHubble now requires the Cutter rather than the Crowbar. This is a specific tool rule, not a reason to use the Cutter against every locked-looking object. The same hotfix changed two doors to require the screwdriver, while Hotfix 0.8.7 moved selected dismantling interactions to the Twister.

If an old video tells you to use a Crowbar on the PornHubble grate, check that the Debug PornHubble objective is active, equip the Cutter, and wait for the matching prompt. If no prompt appears, do not keep consuming durability. Confirm the journal stage and make sure you are interacting with the grate rather than nearby scenery.

Read the Hotfix 0.8.8 guide when a route behaves differently after the September 9 update. It separates the changed Cutter and screwdriver rules from unrelated fixes, so one patch note does not become a made-up rule for every door or panel.

Bring the Cutter to the Interphone route

The Interphone repair is a good example of why the Cutter is a progression tool. Its wiring stage needs Wires, and marked panels are the reliable source described by the current resource guidance. Before leaving the train, inspect the active Interphone panel, record the exact material count, and gather only the components the live step asks for.

The repair has more than one stage, so a material list copied from the first interaction may be incomplete for the next. Return after each submission, wait for the journal to update, and inspect the panel again before starting another gathering run. The focused Interphone repair guide keeps the route, materials, and known patch context together.

Carrying the Cutter does not override a missing prerequisite. Station power, the prior train repairs, an active quest, and the object prompt still determine whether an interaction is available. When the tool seems to fail, verify those conditions before treating the Cutter itself as broken.

Avoid common Cutter mistakes

Do not confuse the Cutter with the Thumper. The Thumper harvests suitable Aluminum deposits, while the Cutter opens panels, pipes, and specific salvage. Carrying both can be useful on a planned mixed-material route, but it does not mean every resource object accepts either one.

Do not assume a patch changed the Cutter recipe. Hotfix 0.8.8 documented interaction rules, not a published material-cost adjustment. If your workstation shows a different amount, take the live value as authoritative and keep the page's build label in mind rather than assuming the save is defective.

Finally, do not stockpile every possible Cutter yield until inventory space creates a return risk. Identify the next repair, collect its complete package, and return safely. This keeps scarce Aluminum, Wires, and replacement-tool materials available for the objective that actually unlocks your next route.

Verification and version note

The core Cutter recipe and opening resource uses on this page were checked against the initial public Early Access build, 0.8.2, on September 1, 2026. The PornHubble interaction change was cross-checked against the official Hotfix 0.8.8 announcement published September 9, 2026. The current installed prompt and workstation always outrank a guide when the game has changed.

Record the installed build, the named object, and the exact prompt if a Cutter interaction still fails. A patch can confirm that a former bug was addressed without proving that every route was replayed on a later version. That distinction keeps a practical guide useful without pretending it has retested facts it has not.
